Let Honolulu Vote Update 3-11-07

Aloha all - A quick update. Last Sunday Paul Smith and Bud Ebel collected signatures at McCoy Pavilion, in Ala Moana Park. And Bob Kessler collected signatures at the Handcrafters Fair at Kaka'ako Park. Some success at both places.

During the week we received a bunch of signatures from Janell Israel, who is collecting in her office at 1585 Kapiolani Blvd., Suite 1604. Mahalo, Janell. By the way, Janell Israel owns a financial advisor service. Her office information also is posted on our web site, LETHONOLULUVOTE.ORG.

Next Saturday morning, March 17, Bob Kessler will be collecting signatures in the parking lot at the Kapiolani Community College Farmer's Market. The hours will be 7:30 to 11AM. Send your friends down to sign. And come down yourself - this is a wonderful Farmer's Market.

A reminder that each Monday either Paul Smith or Bob Kessler will be calling in to the Rick Hamada show sometime during the 7AM hour to discuss LHV. Rick is on KHVH, 830 on the AM dial. He has invited us to call in weekly with an update. By the way, stick around for Rick's 8AM hour as well. Each Monday he interviews his Mom from 8 to 8:30AM, and she is one sharp lady.

If we're going to give Rick Hamada an update, that means we have to hear from you. Please try to give us weekly updates either by email or by phone.

On the down side, our interview with Mike Buck on the program 'Community Matters' isn't available yet on the KHVH web site. But keep checking at KHVH830AM.COM. Click on 'LINKS' then on 'TOWNPODCAST'. The podcast should be posted soon.

Remember our milestones. Even though we're trying to get our initiative on the 2008 General Election ballot, we really want enough signatures by this summer to influence this year's City budget deliberations. That means we want the Council to know we're going to get on the ballot! So we have to collect those signatures NOW!

And don't forget that Paul Smith and Bob Kessler are available to speak to your groups to explain what we're doing -- and why. We're all just going to keep being worn down by taxes until someone changes the City Charter to empower Oahu's voters on tax issues. We're happy to explain that to anyone who will listen.
